David Lloyd partnered with kitround in 2024 and 2025 to redistribute surplus kit across their network of gyms. Their aim was to engage members in reuse, reduce their environmental impact and raise funds for charity partners including Youth Sport Trust, Football Beyond Borders, and London irish Foundation. The initiative also helped educate members on the value of circular consumption.
What did we do together?
Kitbins were placed in 103 gyms across England, Scotland, and Wales for donation drives. Members donated unwanted sportswear and equipment, which kitround redistributed through its platform. The campaign was amplified by athletes and influencers, generating strong traction on social media and within local communities, while highlighting the environmental and social benefits of reuse.
The Outcome
Over 18,000 items donated across both campaigns
More than £40,000 raised for charity partners
The Environmental Impact
Saved 62,000kg CO2e by keeping kit in circulation
Diverted 3,800kg of sportswear and equipment in circulation
Over 3 million cumulative landfill years avoided
The Social Impact
Enough donations to provide full kits (shirt, shorts, and socks) for 547 grassroots
11-a-side teams.
