Meet our new athlete ambassador, Henry Jefferson. A professional tennis player at the University of Florida, Henry shares his journey in tennis, his experience with kitround, and how sports have influenced his life.
kr: Great to see you, Henry! Could you tell us a bit about your early start in tennis?
Henry: Hi, I’m Henry Jefferson, and I’m thrilled to be here. I picked up a tennis racket for the first time when I was just four years old. I started playing at the David Lloyd Club Raynes Park. My passion for tennis grew because my parents were avid fans, and my older brother played there too. The park offered a wealth of young tournaments and squads, which made it easy for me to fall in love with tennis. That love for the game is still as strong today as it was back then.
kr: Moving from playing tennis at a young age to competing in division one tennis at the University of Florida must have been a significant step. Could you share more about that transition?
Henry: It was indeed a big step going out to Florida. Division one tennis has been my goal for quite some time, and the level of competition is exceptionally high. Many college players are entering the top 100 in the ATP rankings, which is a path I’ve aspired to follow to continue growing my tennis journey.
kr: Having access to the right equipment must be crucial in your career. How have you found the selection process for gear like tennis rackets?
Henry: Absolutely! With the vast choices available, trying out different rackets is vital to find the one that suits you best. There are amazing options online, and by testing them, you can ensure you have the right one for you. I’ve used the Head Speed racket since I was 11, as it provides the ideal mix of control and power.
kr: It’s clear that your involvement with sports extends beyond just tennis. We heard that you’re passionate about golf as well. Could you tell us more?
Henry: Yes, I’ve become very passionate about golf over the past couple of years. It’s been a fun challenge as I work on improving my skills. I’ve discovered online marketplaces selling second-hand, good-quality golf balls, which have made the sport much more affordable for me and encouraged me to play more often.
kr: We’re excited to have you as part of the kitround team. What made you interested in working with kitround, and what do you hope to achieve through this partnership?
